StudyDesk resources:

  • When citing books, book chapters, journal articles, webpages and other resources that can be accessed independently of the StudyDesk platform (e.g. by members of the public), follow the guidelines for the particular reference type in other areas of this guide.
  • When citing resources that can only be accessed by UniSQ staff and students on StudyDesk, follow the guidelines for the reference type in other areas of this guide. However, include the StudyDesk homepage URL in the source component of the reference list entry.  For example, to cite a PowerPoint slide available only on StudyDesk, construct your reference list entry using the example in the ‘Presentation Slides’ area of this guide and include the StudyDesk homepage URL as the final component of your reference list entry.
1. LECTURE NOTES AND HANDOUTS
  • These are treated like personal communication if they are your own notes or unpublished. Lecture notes are considered published if they have been copied and distributed in print or online with the instructor’s permission.
  • If author’s name is unknown, move the title to the author position and italicise the title in-text.

(Document Title, Year)

Examples:

(EDC1300 Course Notes, 2011)

Reference

Faculty/Author Surname, Initial. (Year). Document title. Name of Site. URL of StudyDesk homepage.

2. CUSTOMISED PUBLICATIONS
  • In-text, give the year of the original source first, followed by the year of the custom publication (separated by a slash).
  • In the reference list entry, give details of the custom publication first, followed by the original source in parentheses.
  • When using page numbers, use the page numbers of the book of readings.

a) When citing course readings that can be accessed independently of the StudyDesk platform (e.g. by members of the public), follow the guidelines for the particular reference type in other areas of this guide.

b) When citing resources that can only be accessed by UniSQ staff and students on StudyDesk, follow the guidelines for the reference type in other areas of this guide.  However, include the StudyDesk homepage URL in the source component of the reference list entry.
